Dr. John C. Maher is a graduate of Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, D.C. He did his internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He did his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Dr. Maher’s education and professional experience includes a fellowship in cataract surgery with Dr. William Collis in Lexington, Kentucky from 1982-1983.
Dr. Maher has served as an Associate Clinical Professor at three Pittsburgh hospitals. He has served as President of the PA Academy of Ophthalmology as well, as serving on its Board of Directors. He has been a Counselor and Diplomat for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Maher has served on the board of the Allegheny County Medical Society and for the Pittsburgh Ophthalmology Society. Since 1983, he has been a member of many professional organizations.
Dr. John C. Maher has been named the “Top Doc” in Ophthalmology twice by Pittsburgh Magazine.
